Purim
Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, royal vizier to King Ahasuerus, who was planning to kill all the Jews. The story took place in the ancient Achaemenid Persian Empire and is recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther. The most impressive part of the holiday is the carnival. Purim in Israel is perhaps one of the most spectacular holidays in the world. Thousands of people take to the streets, showing off their costumes that they made especially for the holiday.
